As a child I remember spending hours and hours outside playing in the yard or dancing in my lounge room. But sadly these days, as a physical therapist I see more children playing with electronics than running around and dancing. That is why I am so passionate about promoting a fantastic educational resource like the Kinderfeets Kinderboard because it has the ability to entice children away from their screens, and it can be used anywhere in the home, outside of the home, or safely in educational settings such as childcares, kindergartens, and primary schools.

The Kinderfeets Kinderboard is a Scandinavian inspired beech wood balance board that will brighten up your home, education setting, or school, and most importantly this durable and multifunctional Kinderboard will improve children’s balance, confidence, sensory integration, and motor skills in style.

As an Exercise Physiologist working with children in a therapy setting for over 10 years, I have come across a large range of different toys, equipment and resources, and when I saw the Kinderboard for the first time, my creative mind went in to over drive. I straight away could imagine this stunning wooden toy being used as:

  • a balance board for children with developmental delay;

Kinderfeets Kinderboards

  • a stunning bedroom rocking chair for an infant who is practising independent sitting;

Kinderfeets Kinderboard

  • a magical bridge for my daughter’s fairies; and

Kinderfeets Kinderboards

  • a small slide for my adventurous 18 month old.

When I work with children who are experiencing delays in their development, such as late to reach their milestones of crawling, sitting, walking, hopping, or handwriting, I used to use three different pieces of equipment – a wobble board, a small hurdle to step over, and a balance beam.

My favourite feature of the Kinderboard is that I only need to take one piece of equipment with me now for children with developmental delay because the Kinderboard has the ability to be used for more than just one motor skill.

For example, an every day wobble board would only be able to challenge a child’s motor skill of static balance (standing in one spot). I would then need to use a balance beam to challenge a child’s dynamic balance (balancing while moving) and a hurdle to teach children how to balance on one foot. But the Kinderboard can challenge a child’s static balance when it is positioned in the U-Shape, and can be a balance beam and a hurdle when positioned in the rainbow shape. This toy is truly amazing!

Another fantastic feature of the Kinderboard is that it caters to a large range of children, from the age of 18 months right through to adults with a 220kg weight limit. The Kinderboard has been widely used in a range of early education and childcare settings because you can make a more challenging dynamic balance activity by turning the versatile Kinderboard into a hurdle where children learn to stand on one foot and step over the hurdle, or change the function of the Kinderboard in to a rocking chair or a seat and infants can enjoy this toy during imaginative play or for relaxation.

You can be confident in knowing that when you purchase this toy you are providing a range of developmental opportunities to your child, and one toy has the capability of providing hours of physical activity and fun, both indoors and outdoors.
